How to Organize a Small Business
To be categorized as a small business in America, you can be made up of less than 100 people. Starting any business, no matter how big or small can be extremely difficult. The biggest problem small businesses have is not creativity or coming up with an idea, and it's usually not about getting the right or wrong people involved. It's also not even money issues that kill businesses if you really take a look at what killed the company. It's lack of organization from the beginning. If you're organized from the start, you will eliminate those other factors because you will have prepared for them. Once you're organized and have a strong system going, then you can focus on the fun parts of running a small business like the creativity in promotion and your product, as well as the joy of working more personally with customers.

First thing you must do when organizing a small business is to create a well defined business plan. For this you need to have a specific, detailed, and clear objective defined. Once you've established what your objective is, you can put the building blocks into place in your business plan. You need to figure out what you require to get going. Calculate the money that needs to be invested, taking care to think of every single expense and possible expense, while also thinking of cost cutting actions along the way. You should understand that you need almost an equal amount of money invested for back up as you have to start up in case you hit some heavy losses along the way, which almost all small businesses incur early on in their life. You also need to put into account on the business plan the amount of man power you'll need and what their required skills and qualifications must be in order to run everything smoothly.

The next step is the implementation of the business plan. It is nearly half the battle to come up with a good business plan, but the most important part is the actual execution of the business plan.  You need to follow the plan diligently and make sure you're meeting all your objectives along the way. You need to consider taking a loan if you’re unable to finance the small business yourself. Many banks provide loans for small businesses. You'll find that it is easier to get a loan if you have a partner. Once you've received the initial money necessary to start, you need to start bringing in your employees. Then of course you need to purchase and set up all commodities needed to get the business running once you have people to run it. Once you have the money, the man power, and the material, a small business can get moving in the right direction.

Small businesses are nothing without their customers, and to get customers you need to have some form of marketing strategy implemented. You need to know who your customer would be. For instance, who would most likely want or need your product or service. Focus your attention on the people that already know they need your service or product, or who will most likely discover they need or want your product. The next step to marketing is getting those customers who wouldn't normally think they need your product or service to believe they need your product or service. This is where marketing becomes the key and being organized from the beginning will help you in implementing a strong marketing strategy and therefore creating a strong small business.
